Dasyatis
Join the Team
Team Dasyatis offers Upper School students (grades 9-12) the opportunity to participate in the Ranger Class division of the MATE ROV Competition.
Background
Named after the genus of a stingray, Dasyatis began its competitive journey in 2019 through a collaborative partnership with Patrick Henry Community College, Martinsville High, and Bassett High schools. The team placed 3rd in the Appalachian Highlands Regional Competition, receiving a 1st Place award for Engineering, and was invited as a Wildcard to the International Championship.
We are pleased to announce that the Dasyatis team will continue here at Carlisle School.
Competitive Missions
Each year, MATE issues a new Request For Proposal (RFP) for real world situations. Teams must act as entrepreneurial companies to manufacture, demonstrate, market and "sell" their product. Below is the 2019 Ranger Class mission fly-through video provided by MATE to demonstrate the challenges the teams face during the competitions.
